Lawndale, NC was incorporated in 1903.

The Lawndale Historical Society began in 1993 and the Museum on the old Piedmont School grounds was dedicated in 1995.
Please check with us often as this site grows.

New for 2009:
In memory of the late Tom Hord, served on the Cleveland County School Board.

In honor of Allie Geraldine "Geri" Harshaw, who was presented a congressional gold medal for her work with the Tuskegee Airman in World War II, in 1936, she and two other young women were the first graduates of Douglas High School in Lawndale.

The Hoover Rail, which was a gathering place in front of the mill, has been placed outside of the museum

In memory of the late Katherine "Kat" Dobbins, a display arranged by Lansford and Cothenia Jolly, a Christmas tree featuring the Christmas ornaments that Kat made and gave to family and friends.
